Americana (Keylock) Finish from Side Control (Gi)

Blue beltGi0:07Finish short

A 7-second finish-position short: the Americana is already fully set when the clip starts — the partner's wrist is stapled to the mat and the top player holds the figure-four keylock grip — and the only action is the grip being re-seated and the crank applied while the partner reacts.

The breakdown — piece by piece

STEP 1 · 0:00–0:02

The finish position, already set

The clip opens mid-submission. The top player (black gi) is in side control on the partner (dark gi); the partner's arm is bent in the Americana shape with his hand flat on the mat out to the side, and the top player's hands are on the partner's wrist/forearm in the figure-four keylock grip. The partner's other hand grips the top player's back.

STEP 2 · 0:02–0:04

Re-seat the grip and drive down

The top player adjusts his hands on the wrist, presses his chest down into the partner, and makes sure the partner's hand stays stapled flat to the mat before cranking — the wrist does not lift or slide during the adjustment.

STEP 3 · 0:04–0:07

The crank

Keeping the wrist pinned, the top player applies the keylock crank from the figure-four grip. The partner's head turns and his body reacts to the shoulder pressure, and his free hand comes up toward the top player's back/shoulder in the final frames as the clip ends with the lock still on.
