Bicep slicer — the leg hook from behind the turtle

Brown beltNo-Gi0:06Archive lesson

Deivid's caption defines the move: "A bicep slicer is a submission hold that attacks the bicep muscle of your opponent," and it is "called a slicer, because you drive your shin into the bicep muscle like you're trying to slice through it." This clip shows the leg-hook entry, set from behind a turtled partner.

The breakdown — piece by piece

STEP 1 · 0:00–0:02

Control the turtle from behind

Your partner is on hands and knees in turtle. Stay on top behind him, chest on his back, and reach under for his near arm.

STEP 2 · 0:02–0:04

Isolate the arm and hook the leg

Pull his arm out from under him and clasp it with both hands. As he tips over, swing your leg in around the trapped arm so your shin sits against his bicep.

STEP 3 · 0:04–0:06

Fall back and drive the shin

Fall back to your side and back with your legs locked around his arm and your hands holding his wrist. Drive your shin into his bicep — the caption's words are "like you're trying to slice through it."
