Blue Belt · Guard → Half Guard (Sweeps)
From bottom half guard in the gi, trap the top player's leg, hug in tight through his pressure, and come up to finish seated and then kneeling on top. The clip is one continuous demonstration in 20 seconds.
The bottom player, in the blue gi, is on his back and side with the top player's (black gi) leg trapped between his legs in half guard, the trapped leg's foot up in the air. He hugs in around the top player's upper body and gi while the top player drapes his weight down over him, head low.
The bottom player stays on his side, holding the hug and the trapped leg while the top player keeps the pressure on. Midway through this stretch he turns his face toward camera with an explanation look — hands clasped in front of his chest in one frame — without giving up the leg trap or his side position.
Still holding the trapped leg, the bottom player works his hands onto the top player's leg/pants, raises a hand briefly, and starts turning up into the top player instead of pulling away from him — the start of the sweep, with the top player's base already loaded onto the trapped leg.
The bottom player sits up through the position (about 0:15), hand posting on the mat, then comes all the way up to kneeling over the top player, chest driving down over him, and settles in the top position as the clip ends.
