White Belt · Escapes → Side Control
How to escape a heavy side control pin in the gi, filmed live in class under an on-screen title card ("SIDE CONTROL ESCAPE — Wednesday 7PM Competition Class"). The bottom player (white gi) builds frames against the top player's head and body, bridges and turns in again and again while the top player (blue gi) rides the attempts — and finishes the exchange on top, in side control of his own.
The clip opens letterboxed with the title on screen. The bottom player is pinned flat under a cross-side side control, and the top player settles his weight with an arm around the head. The bottom player's first job is visible right away: get hands in as frames before anything else moves.
The bottom player wedges one forearm against the top player's head/face and the other hand against his shoulder and hip, feet planted flat with knees bent. The top player rides high over the upper body, head low, trying to smother the frames. Nothing is given — the frames have to be earned against full weight.
With the frames set, the bottom player bridges off his planted feet and turns into the top player, getting onto his side and working to open space at the hips. The top player follows on his knees, staying heavy and re-settling each time an attempt stalls. The exchange repeats: frame, bridge, turn, ride.
The bottom player keeps turning through instead of accepting the re-pin — hips moving, frames still in place — until the top player's base tips and the bottom player starts coming up over him as the scramble opens.
The escape lands as a reversal: the white gi ends the clip on top in side control over the blue gi, chest-to-chest, as the footage ends. The bottom player didn't just get out — he took the position he was pinned under.
